A Public Health minor provides you with an ecological perspective on the determinants of health that will benefit you in a future career as a health professional. You will develop skills in the use of data, assessing community needs and strengths, implementing evidence-based programs, and developing critical thinking skills regarding the determinants of health affecting a community. With a minor in public health you might seek careers in health/program administration, research with a focus on health issues, professions related to public health, or health care. The minor is open to all undergraduate students at UNE.
The minor is offered through the Westbrook College of Health Professions and is administered through the WCHP Department of Public Health. The minor is interdisciplinary in nature and draws courses from the following programs: Public Health, Anthropology, Biology, Sociology, Political Science, and Environmental Studies.
